Always a party ...

Whenever we see you there is some kind of celebration. How great is that? We wish we were with you to celebrate the big 40. We will be thinking of you! We WILL see you the next time we are in Fairfield. You know there is always a place for you to stay in Vancouver.

I feel so lucky that we have been friends for half our lives - crazy! Even though we only see each other a couple of times a year I still feel connected.

Here are some random facts about our friendship:
  • I was there the night that you met Doug (all of our AIESEC friends wondered where you disappeared to. I was sent to go and find you.)
  • We met up in Vancouver and were enthralled with Princess Di's funeral. Cal and Doug slept while we stayed up all night.
  • You came to my UH grad and we commenced the "circle island eating tour" spam misubis, malasadas, shave ice - ONO!
  • You were in my wedding 6 weeks before you gave birth to Erica (I was scared that you were going to go into labor on Highway 1)

Thanks for the awesome memories and good times!

We love you - Adelle, Cal, Shona and Evan

  1. Happy Birthday, Nina!

I met you through Adelle in college as one of "those" AIESEC cult people. Adelle always pointed out that it was through AIESEC parties and chicken wings that you met Doug. I was there with you guys for Vancouver and kawawa Diana's funeral on TV; Hawaii graduation, eating tour and swimming holes; and Adelle's fabulous Sea Ranch wedding in which you designed your bridesmaid gown to be a racy halter top, even at 8 months pregnant!

Erica was the first two-day-old baby I ever held. Seven years later, you were the first visitor to hold Carys when she was two days old and you even brought mamon to the hospital!

We had fun in the city in the mid-nineties at the Elbo Room, Bruno's and with some crazy Australians. Remember our camping trip with Informix people in which we got the boys to carry up the pate, pasta, fresh basil, and peach schnapps up all those switchbacks in 90 degree weather? We were talking so much and taking our time eating apple snacks that the guys came back down the switchbacks to get our backpacks full of food. Then, we swam in a slimy lake full of tadpoles just to make it all worth it. We were on our last collective sips of water when we made it back to the parking lot the next day. We listened to Earth, Wind and Fire in our air-conditioned car on the way out of Yosemite.

When my family went to the Philippines in 1998, they had the best time with you and your family at Tagaytay and of course eating out with you at one of your recommended restaurants. When Erica was a baby, she even rated restaurants according to baby-friendliness. This is definitely a case of the apple not falling far from the tree.

You and Doug are always so technically advanced and daring with your startup ventures. This is my first blog ever so sorry I lost the link to do a proper post and can't figure out the image upload.

Thanks for being you and for all the fun memories!

    Lots of love and admiration,
    Jen, Rhett and Carys
