Deep, Dark Secrets

As I tried to think of the most interesting memories to share about Nina, I was stumped. I realized that she and I have been apart for more than half our lives. So, inevitably, most of the memories I have are of when we were kids…and therefore, long lost in the deep recesses of my brain. (Maybe if I didn’t drink so much, I’d remember them.) The memories that do come to mind are not fit to post here. Never mind the children -- some of the adults are probably not prepared for them, either!

(Here’s one, just for you, Nina: Do you remember what was shown to us, and by whom, in an unused classroom during our Freshman year?)

The same goes for the photos. I brought out all my old albums and envelopes of pictures, and I was shocked at how few I had of our childhood together. To make matters worse, like the memories, most of the pictures I found are not the most flattering!

Of course, I could write about the other things I know about Nina: how she’s one of my most fiercely intelligent friends, and someone I always enjoy stimulating conversations with; how she’s so tough, often even intimidating, yet everyone knows she’s heaps of fun; or how she can charm anyone immediately, so much so that, despite the fact that she doesn’t live here, she was the first of my La Salle friends to win Felipe over and get him out of his shell. But these are things we all know about her, and have been said by others already.

So instead, I’ll just post embarrassing pictures. SORRY, NINA!!!

  2. Mara -- It's not half as scandalous as you might think. Still, not something I'd want to tell the world!
